Land Rover continue their award winning streak this year, adding two Queens awards to their What Car? 2008 success.
Earlier this year, LandRover beat off tough competition to come away with Best Compact 4×4 and Best Large 4×4. The all-new Freelander 2 2.2 TD4 GS fought off opposition from the new Honda CR-V, Toyota RAV4 and Nissan X-Trail to win the hotly contested Compact 4×4 title. The Discovery 3 TDV6 SE auto again beat its rivals to be named Best Large 4×4 for an impressive third year running.
Land Rover’s latest accolades are due to their excellent international sales and technical expertise. Export sales across the range – Freelander up to Defender rose a staggering 52% over the past 3 years. The Queens award for innovation was awarded in recognition of Land Rover’s patented Terrain Response System, which automatically adjusts engine response and traction to maximise grip on all surfaces.
Phil Popham, Land Rover’s Managing Director, said, “To win not one but two Queen’s Awards is a considerable achievement and a testament to Land Rover’s relevance and modernity in its 60th anniversary year. It demonstrates we are building and selling desirable and technically advanced cars around the world and generating significant wealth for Britain.”
