The most common complaint directed at Landrover drivers is that they don’t need a 4×4. Dropping off the kids and going shopping don’t require the ability to drive up steep slopes or through rivers unless you happen to live in the middle of nowhere. The best way to avoid your car being called a Chelsea tractor is to get muddy!
Landrover have cottoned on to the fact that a lot of people who own one of their vehicles don’t get to drive them off road and perhaps wouldn’t have the skills or confidence to do so. To rectify this they have set up the Land Rover Experience. While this sounds like marketing speak for owning a Freelander it is actually an adventure day where you can learn off road skills in a safe environment.
Participants can drive either a Discovery, Defender, Freelander or Range Rover on various different courses aimed at different levels of experience. There are night drives, an obstacle course and various tricky terrains to test your driving skills. There are 10 Land Rover Experience centres around the UK. You can find your nearest centre at the Landrover Experience website.
